Look what I found at home depot

I was in the city today so popped into home depot to buy some bolts for necks and went past the Router area of the tools section and found this sitting there.

Not a normal product the carry as it normally is sold with the Rigid 6.0 amp laminate trimmer. It is really well made and looks solid, I'll have to figure a way to use it on my PC laminate trimmer but this should really improve my binding routing (I have been using a bearing kit with a radiused base on the trimmer untill now. With this I should be able to keep square with the sides and use a smaller base on the trimmer.) So how much did it cost me? $4.98. I don't know if this was labeled wrong but it wasn't in their system so they let it go for that. And that is $4.98 Canadian As I said it ussually comes with the Rigid 6.0 Laminate trimmer wich is only $120 CDN (around $100 US) That seems like a good deal to. The edge guide is a bonus that came with it.

p-c make the same sort of bearing guide for their trimmers, but it is $20+, so you may have scored a good buy if yoy can successfully adapt it.crazymanmichael38624.7710532407

FWIW, the ~$100US DeWalt laminate trimmer comes with this sort of accessory attachment at no extra cost. I've got one, it works well, but -- hehe -- I'm still using the bit and bearing set I bought from Tracy.

I priced out the PC one for mine when I got it. They wanted $84. I use the bit and bearing set but will use this with it.

I've got that laminate trimmer. It costs $100 and it is VERY well made.   Soft start, adjustable speeds, very solid, and that group of accessories seems like it will be very useful. I have not figured out exactly what to do with with those accessories, but they look good.

I figure that this will be very usefull. Set the trimmer up with the bearing and bit as usual but also use the guide to help keep it square. The problem I currently have is that using radiused base on my trimmer means I have to really concentrate on keeping it square especially at the waist. With a guide like this and a bearing rabitt bit you will be able to square the trimmer from the side instead of off the radiused top. I hjave some guitars that wiull be ready for binding next week so look forward to trying.

why not spend a couple of hours and build a williams type binding jig and get away from the problems entirely?

My plan was/is to build a Williams type jig but you have to consider the cost. I figure that using scrap wood in my shop etc I would still have to buy 2 good drawer slides which I just priced out at $25 (I've got some cheap ones lying around but don't think they would work) and then a Lazy susan which runs about $12 and then other miscilanious stuff, I'm looking at over $50 to build one. Right now that is $50 more than I can afford. Somday I'll build one but right now I only have orders till the end of December and if I don't get a bunch more orders comming in I'll be having to go North to find other work. Usning the router without the guide has been working fine untill now so I figure this, if it works, will just make it a little easier. When I have the time and money I'll build a williams jig but this might help me get by till then.
